Inspired by a review of poverty in Charlottesville, called the Orange Dot Report, Susan Freeman Weiner conceived of Orange Dot Baking Company to generate local employment while producing a healthy, flavorful alternative to existing high-glycemic, gluten free breads. Orange Dot bakes gluten free, sandwich-ready English muffins and biscuits in 10 delicious flavors. Our recipes focus on high-protein ingredients, deliberately avoid xanthan gum, and are baked with an innovative process that locks in the moisture. It is a versatile bread that works well as a French toast for breakfast, a turkey sandwich for lunch, a hamburger bun for dinner--or simply toasted with goat cheese and a glass of red wine. It's gluten free, power-packed, and downright delicious!

I love doing business in Charlottesville because of the incredibly supportive nature of my fellow food entrepreneurs, the larger business community and our customers. I truly would not have a company without the help of a long list of entrepreneurs, the CIC, the SBDC, the Chamber of Commerce and all of my loyal customers. The willingness of others to share their expertise and enthusiasm has helped my company get off the ground, build my own dedicated gluten free production kitchen, successfully my market my bread to 15 stores in Charlottesville, and expand to stores in Richmond, DC, Philly and Baltimore.
