Established in Charlottesville: 2014

Why did you choose to open a business in the City?

After moving to Charlottesville from Brooklyn, New York Pigment owner, Christy Baker, found a supportive and robust creative community in an unlikely southern locale. After encouragement from friends and clients, she decided to partner with a local painting contractor (Piedmont Paint & Finish) to create and head up a 'creative division'. From there she has been able to create a stand alone entity through the on-going patronage of her clients.
There is a forward-thinking, urban sensibility to the Charlottesville community, which made for an ideal stage for the New York City transplant. Since hanging the 'open' sign, Pigment has seen new designers, business owners, and makers stake their claim as neighbors and friends. There is a sense that we are part of a community making this corner of the world a thoughtful and beautiful place, together.
